“If people are willing to make some really brave decisions and shift what they see as power, or management over our spaces and places, then there’s definitely a chance we can get things right.” - Bianca Ranson.
During a climate and biodiversity crisis, in a dwindling ecosystem, among a declining taonga species, surrounded by historic Pā sites, opposed by mana whenua and the local community, consent was granted to build a marina at Putiki Bay, Waiheke Island, Aotearoa NZ.
Kaitiaki of Pūtiki Bay share their stories of the fight to hold back the ongoing exploitation of the moana.

Welcome to “Community & Connection” – our monthly video series.
In this series, we aim to explore the connections that we share with each other and the natural world, and how we can nurture and strengthen one another to be Better Ancestors.
If you or a community you know is working together with nature to make intersectional, environmental, and intergenerational change, then please get in touch.
We would love to hear about your kaupapa and may be able to lend a hand in supporting your efforts.
