Welcome to “Community & Connection” – our monthly video series throughout 2022.
In this series, we continue to explore the connections that we share with each other and with the natural world.
Our planet is experiencing catastrophic environmental harm and it requires us to Think-Long-Term, beyond our lifetimes, to evaluate our choices and to take actions to ensure a sustainable and healthy future for all.
The stories of those leading the change - those thinking and acting with long-term vision, are inspirational.
Inspired, we can ask ourselves, “what can we do to be Better Ancestors?”
“Show up. Be empowered on that day, and that is ahi.” - Zane Wedding (Ngāti Kurī, Ngāti Pikiao)
Blazing into 2022 we interviewed Zane Wedding, an award-winning arborist. Zane tells a story of a community “forged in fire” through a lengthy fight to save a precious grove of trees in Tāmaki Makaurau, Auckland, Aotearoa NZ.
Changes to the Resource Management Act between 2010 and 2012 have led to numerous non-notifiable consents being granted to developers across Aotearoa, NZ. Communities have been trespassed from our natural green spaces.
