Welcome to “The Change Makers” – our weekly video series.
In this series our Change Makers share their stories, their thoughts, their ambitions and their actions to leave the earth a better place – to be a Good Ancestor to future generations.
Our planet is experiencing catastrophic environmental harm and it requires us to Think Long Term, beyond our lifetimes, to evaluate our choices and to take actions to ensure a sustainable and healthy future for all.
The stories of those leading the change – The Change Makers – those thinking and acting with long-term vision, are inspirational.
Inspired, we can ask ourselves, “what can we do to be Better Ancestors?”
Last week the global climate summit known as COP26 wrapped up in Glasgow. The Conference of the Parties (COP), the 197 nations that agreed to a new environmental pact back in 1992, concluded the 26th annual meeting. What has changed?
We bring you our short film, our take on the situation we find ourselves in and our “call to action”.
The chemistry and the physics of the atmosphere don’t pause for talks, the machines and consumption of our industrial processes don’t pause for talks and the pollution of the planet’s biosphere wasn’t paused for the talks. The relentless increase in the C02 content of the atmosphere hasn’t paused.
Ian Spilman & Morgan Blackmore are young videographers and documentary makers. Together we have created the “Carbon Clock” to communicate the relentless increase in CO2 concentration and to highlight that the Alarm is sounding. We have one last chance to wake up.
There are only two pathways available from here on.
One is a future with hope and courage and hard work to remedy the harm our system of living has wreaked upon the natural world. The alternative pathway is a future of horror, for many - a dystopian world of increasing destruction, of fighting and scavenging for the remnants of our once bountiful world.
