Kia ora!
Welcome to Better Ancestors, and our weekly video series throughout 2021.
In our series change makers share their stories, their thoughts, their ambitions and their actions to leave the earth a better place – to be a good ancestor to future generations.
Our planet is experiencing catastrophic environmental harm; it requires us to think Long Term, beyond our lifetimes, and to take action to ensure a sustainable and healthy future for all.
The stories of those leading the change – the Change Makers – those thinking and acting with long term vision, are inspirational. Inspired, we can ask ourselves, “what can we do to be Better Ancestors?”
In Episode 2, Better Ancestors sits down with Dani and Nelson Lebo, who run Whanganui’s “The Eco School”.
Their education centre provides both Forest School and permaculture education programs. In the first of two parts, we follow a day in the life of Forest School.
We learn of the remarkable benefits this form of education provides young learners, and how schooling outside creates a lifelong commitment to guardianship, kaitiaki, of the natural environment.
Dani and Nelson are inspiring, challenging us to consider how we teach ourselves and our children to think and to act with long term vision – to become Better Ancestors.
